Today’s Edinburgh preview is a bit of a no-brainer. Bridget Christie has become a must-see Fringe attraction in the last two years. She won the Foster’s Comedy Award in 2013 with A Bic For Her and followed it up last year with the equally acclaimed An Ungrateful Woman. Unfortunately you can’t win the Edinburgh Comedy Award more than once. Christie has come a long way from the first time I saw her at the Holyrood Tavern when I only went to her show because free cheese rolls were promised. There were none the day I went, but I won’t hold that against her. She returns this year with a new show, but also a book to plug, hence the title A Book For Her. The show is new but I expect it will continue Christie’s previous hours in which she neatly weaved hard-hitting feminist theory with wilfully dotty humour. What’s not to like?
Bridget Christie is at the Invisible Dot, N1, tonight (5/8), tickets here, and at The Stand from August 8 - 31, tickets here.
