Satirist Matt Forde has a problem. Just as he mastered his Ed Miliband impression Ed went and got wiped out at the election. Forde now has to master either Andy Burnham, Jeremy Corbyn or put on a skirt. Luckily he also has his wits to fall back on. So even if the voices aren’t quite right the jokes usually are. Forde’s profile has risen rapidly in the last year. The former flatmate of Jon Richardson has appeared with his old mate on his C4 series about growing up and has also become a regular wingman for Rory Bremner. In many ways with his impressions and acute, informed political analysis he is the natural successor to Bremner. Forde’s new show is called Get The Political Party Started – a vague title because his entry in the Fringe brochure had to be submitted before the election result. There is no need to do an exit poll on it, you can be sure there will be nothing vague about his show once it opens. Though given Forde's leftist sympathies it might be as much a post-mortem as a party.
Matt Forde is at the Pleasance until Aug 30, tickets here.
