News: Rob Brydon Round-Up – TV, Stage, Documentary

Rob Brydon

Sir Tom Jones and Rob Brydon are joining forces for a night of music and entertainment in aid of Children In Need. The show will take place on October 8 at Wembley Arena. Tickets are now on sale here. It will also be broadcast on BBC One during the week of the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal which this year takes place on Friday November 13th.

The concert will be hosted by Brydon who will take an affectionate look at Sir Tom's career. The show will include live and pre-recorded comedy pieces depicting some of the moments of Sir Tom's illustrious musical career.

Sir Tom Jones says: “It really is a great honour to be working with BBC Children in Need this year, I hope this night of entertainment will not only be a fantastic experience for those who come along, but will also go on to help disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK who really do need our help. I look forward to seeing you there; it is set to be an amazing night!”

Rob Brydon says: “I am delighted to be hosting what is set to be a fantastic evening of music and comedy, two of my favourite things!  It’s not unusual for Sir Tom to go above and beyond when it comes to putting on a show, so I have no doubt this will be one to remember, and all for a fantastic cause.”

This is a busy time for Rob Brydon. On Thursday he was also the subject of a BBC Wales documentary marking his fiftieth birthday with a look back at his career. The programme featured contributions from Sir Tom Jones, David Walliams, Steve Coogan, Ronnie Corbett, Ruth Jones and Kenneth Branagh and featured previously unseen footage of Brydon pre-fame in a Toffee Crisp campaign that was never aired. The documentary can be seen on iPlayer here. A new series of Would I Lie To You? also started this week.

Brydon is also due to appear onstage at the Old Vic in September in Future Conditional and at Garrick Theatre in March 2016 alongside Kenneth Branagh in The Painkiller. Tickets here.
