Further to BTJ's column speculating on how the comedy world would respond to the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour's new leader there have already been some entertaining developments.
It has actually been David Cameron's comments that prompted the pithiest satire. After the results were announced the PM's Twitter account tweeted that Corbyn's election posed a threat to "our national security, our economic security and your family’s security.”
Musical comic Vikki Stone responded by tweeting a photo of herself (see left) hiding in her shed with a colander on her head and the comment: "Dear @David_Cameron, I'm frightened. Do you think I'll be safe from the Labour Party in here?".
Elsewhere Rory Bremner was quick off the mark on Saturday posting the following on Twitter: "PLAY TORY BINGO re JC!! It's easy! 'Threat to security' Bingo! 'Magic Money Tree' Bingo! This lot give parrots a bad name."
Al Murray - presumably sarcastically – tweeted: "Satirists staring at the blank page right now, they got nothing."
Marget Thatcher Queen of Soho, however, was critical of the lack of women in Corbyn's shadow cabinet: "The shadow cabinet is about as gender balanced as the film 12 Angry Men."
Meanwhile in a rare moment of current affairs-related humour one-liner specialist Gary Delaney tweeted: "How can people say Corbyn can't win over Tory voters when thousands paid £3 to vote for him already?"
And, of course, there is now the inevitable Downfall/Hitler spoof. Watch it here.
