Update 28/10. The makers of ITV2 series Glitchy have been in touch to say that they were not the people who tried to get Ed Miliband to take part in their series. They said that they don't prank celebrities and are not planning to. So the plot below thickens. Who was making the driving 'programme' that asked Ed Miliband to take part?
Ed Miliband has revealed that he thinks a TV production company attempted to trick him into appearing on a fictional show.
The former Labour Party leader was speaking at the PinkNews Awards and explained that he had received an unusual approach: “It is from a programme soon to be aired on your television screens called Drive ITV, when nine well known faces take on the challenge of motor sport and I was offered the chance, believe it or not, to take part in everything from stock car racing to buggy racing."
According to PinkNews however, there is no record of this programme being in production, prompting some to wonder if this was an attempt by the ITV2 series Glitchy to get Ed Miliband involved in their programme. In Glitchy, featuring Ryan Sampson from Plebs and various other comedians, members of the public are duped into thinking they are taking part in genuine reality TV formats such as Are You Good Enough To Date My Daughter? which are actually fake.
