On the same day a panel of experienced and distinguished pundits discuss the history of puns and how (& why) they have become an essential part of the British sense of humour, in It’s a Punny Old World. On the panel is renowned sociologist, former president of the International Society for Humour Studies and author of many books on humour Prof Christie Davies. What are the key characteristics of puns? Why do we groan when a pun is told? The panel will include comedians, academics and the odd special guest. Chaired by Martin Ballard, BBC Radio Leicester.
