East Londoner Bilal Zafar has been chosen as 'Top of the Bill' at this year's New Acts of the Year final at the Leicester Square Theatre. The competition, which used to be held at the Hackney Empire, no longer chooses winners, but Zafar was chosen as the best act by the judges today.
Zafar's set tells the story of how a joke about him running a cake shop that would only serve Muslims escalated and he ended up getting abuse from the English Defence League.
Jimmy Bird was second and third place was shared between Emma Sidi and Josh Pugh. Sketch duo Revan and Fennel were fifth. Here's a list of all the finalists.
