News: Latitude Line-Up Announced

The first batch of names for this year's Latitude Festival has been announced today.

There is a big crossover between comedy and theatre this year with stand-up Liam Williams writing a new comedy play which will be performed for the first time at Latitude. Mel Giedroyc will perform at Latitude in the Hammersmith Lyric theatre's the Importance of Being Earnest and award-winning comedian and playwright Mark Thomas will bring his new stand up theatre show Red Shed to the festival.

Liam Williams' debut play Travesty takes a look at modern relationships and is about a couple of young, slightly lost, middle-class people who meet, start having sex and then don’t so much fall in love as cautiously negotiate their way into it.

The headliners on the comedy stage have not been announced yet but among the comedians confirmed as appearing at the festival are anarchist chef George Egg and comic/poet Rob Auton. There will also be new work from Shon Dale-Jones, better known as whimsical Welshman Hugh Hughes

The main musical attractions are The Maccabees, The National and New Order.

The Festival runs from July 14 - 17 in Henham Park, Suffolk.
