6. What do your children ) think of your job?
I think my son thinks it’s just another way of me hogging the limelight. What annoys me is that he's a talented singer & actor but has no desire to step on stage at all. Were it not for the fact that he's a younger, ginger, clone of me (beard & all) I'd question whether we share any DNA.
7. What’s the worst thing about being a comedian?
Punters offering you “a joke you can use” it’s ALWAYS either racist or sexist or both.
8. I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you?
Nice beard. Uses being one of the best mind reading acts in the country to distract from being only an average stand up.
9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn?
I used to be a director at the UK’s largest ad agency on a six figure salary. I now earn about the same as a teacher but am much, much happier so I guess I’d like to earn about the same as a teacher. Anyone getting into comedy for the money is an idiot.
10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?
I guess so. I kind of became successful by mistake. That said I really think the way you “happen to be in the right place at the right time” is by working really hard and making sure that you are everywhere at all times.
11. Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?
Oh I’m definitely the latter. I frequently wish I could just not give a shit.
12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians?
Batman. Batman has been one of the most important people in my life since I was four. My full legal name is (genuinely) Doug Bruce Wayne Segal.
13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not? (this is to settle an argument with my girlfriend. If you've taken my side thank you in advance)
Of course I don’t. Draws are sliding boxes you dump stuff in then root through when you want something
