Michael McIntyre had to perform onstage yesterday evening with one leg in a special support boot due to a fractured bone.
He was the final act on at the 100 Hearts charity gala at the Adelphi Theatre raising money for Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital charity, with proceeds going towards expanding the life-saving Genetics and Genomics testing service at Royal Brompton Hospital,. Compere Clive Anderson introduced him by saying that unfortunately McIntyre would not be doing his usual skipping onstage due to a recent accident.
Mcintyre limped out and explained that everyone he meets assumes that he had hurt himself skiing. In fact the injury had been sustained playing football. He did manage to stride around a little bit during his appearance. He explained that he had turned down the offer of doing his set in a seat. The theatre is currently the home of West End hit Kinky Boots, so after telling everyone how he injured himself he added: "that's why I'm wearing the least kinky boot this stage has ever seen."
Other performers at the sold out show included Rowan Atkinson (performing his classic Fatal Beatings sketch with Angus Deayton), Jo Brand, Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse.
