Channel 4 has announced a new series, Host The Week, in which a celebrity guest will unwittingly play both host and hero for one night only.
Scarlett Moffatt will be the first guest host thrust into the limelight to perform in a number of total unrehearsed items. A second and third host will be announced in due course.
Across every show, the host will take on roles in a number of topical sketches as they’re placed into a series of unconventional situations, with no hint at what’s going to take place next. Other items will see them co-host a satirical news show, present their own chat show, and even play host to a game show with real life contestants.
Leading the star through this immersive experience will be a troupe of improvisers and character comedians directed by Tom Parry from sketch group Pappy’s.
Ed Havard, Channel 4’s Head of Events, Entertainment & Sport said, “This hilarious and topical hybrid show will offer a unique televisual experience for viewers as anything can, and probably will happen. With the smash hit Murder in Successville, Tiger Aspect has an excellent track record in organised TV chaos and we hope to deliver something just as brilliant.”
Ben Cavey, Joint Managing Director of Tiger Aspect said, “Tiger Aspect Entertainment continues to develop brilliantly inventive and original ideas, so it makes absolute sense that our next generation comedy entertainment show ‘Host The Week’ has found its home at C4 who have always been at the forefront of distinctive and ground-breaking programme making.”
Host The Week was commissioned by Ed Havard, Channel 4’s Head of Events, Entertainment & Sport and Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor for Entertainment. From Tiger Aspect (Murder in Successville, Benidorm), ‘Host The Week’ will be filmed as live in front of a studio audience and will start later this month. The format was created by the Tiger Aspect Entertainment development team.
Host The Week starts on C4 on June 22 at 9pm.
