Nick Helm will follow the success of the sitcom Uncle with his everything-including-the-kitchen-sink variety show Heavy Entertainment, which was piloted last year. Sexy Beasts is another show that is going from pilot to series. The series will explore whether true love can blossom based on character alone, by using high-end Hollywood prosthetics to completely disguise the identity of people who then go on dates with each other These dates happen out in the real world, with confused members of the public looking on. Only at the very end of the show do the masks come off, and the true faces are revealed.
Also announced today, Tiger Aspect Productions has been commissioned to produce a pilot episode of hybrid comedy, entertainment and murder mystery show Murder In Successville. The show is set in Successville, a fictional town brimming with celebrities such as Gordon Ramsey, Cheryl Cole, the Cowells and the Beckhams. It's a surreal place that also has an unfortunately high incidence of celebrity homicide. Attempting to keep a lid on it all is Successville’s greatest detective, DCI Sleet, played by character comedian Tom Davis, who each week enlists the help of a real celebrity guest sidekick to solve the latest high profile celebrity homicide.
Jack Whitehall and his dad Michael will return for two 45-minute Backchat specials on BBC Three to coincide with Father’s Day and the 2014 World Cup. Jack and Michael will be chatting to celebrity guests, famous fathers and footballers for each of the themed programmes.
The BAFTA Award-winning satirical comedy series The Revolution Will Be Televised will be returning to BBC Three. Heydon Prowse and Jolyon Rubinstein once again bash a variety of people over the head with an inflated pig’s bladder, on behalf of anyone who has stared open-mouthed at the arrogance, hypocrisy, corruption and greed of the various politicians, multinationals and tax-shy corporations.
