The streaming date for the new series of Black Mirror has been confirmed. It will stream on Netflix from 15th June. Go to www.netflix.com/blackmirror
The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker.
TV presenter & Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker will be guest hosting the opening episode of series 65 (!) of Have I Got News For You.
Newcastle upon Tyne, the first BBC City of Comedy, will host the BBC’s first Comedy Festival for indie producers, anyone with a new career in TV and comedy, and people looking to break into or advance their career in the industry.
A series of events will take place across three days from Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th May 2022 to explore, reflect on and celebrate comedy in the UK.
Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe end-of-year reports for the BBC were essential viewing. Last year though he did a caustic commentary for Netflix, Death To 2020, without appearing onscreen himself, which didn't quite have the same sardonic sucker punches. Not for English viewers anyway. It seemed to be aimed at an American audience.
This is no doubt more my problem than Charlie Brooker's but I never thought I'd be disappointed by something Brooker was involved in. I even loved Nathan Barley. I'd been looing forward to Death To 2020 ever since it was announced. And every time i heard about another cast member I got more excited. Diane Morgan? Hugh Grant? Samuel L Jackson? What could possibly go wrong?
Charlie Brooker: ’Those who only know me through Black Mirror may not realize that when not writing speculative sci-fi about people frowning at smartphones, I’ve spent years making comedy shows in the UK - including many topical comedy specials. So to me, Death to 2020 feels like the collision of several different strands. (Do strands ‘collide'? No. Apologies). But the approach for this is quite different to most of the topical comedy I’ve done in the past.
2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up… but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add. Charlie Brooker's new one-off show, Death to 2020 is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is?
Charlie Brooker is to host this Friday's lockdown edition of Have I Got News For You.
The show will air on Friday 22nd May, BBC One, at 9.00pm.
The guest panellists will be comedian Mark Steel and mathematician & author Hannah Fry.
Regulars Ian Hislop and Paul Merton will also be appearing from their homes.
Brooker has appeared on the show eight times and hosted three times before, in 2015/16 and in 2019.

Well at least one good thing has come out of this bloody pandemic. We've got another Wipe. And while this one was filmed under lockdown social distancing conditions it didn't really hit the production in the way it has hit something like the studio-based Mash Report as Wipes always rely on a mix of footage and Charlie "happy birthday twice” Brooker sitting alone. The only difference here was that his desk was made of cardboard.
Charlie Brooker returns to BBC2 for a one-off – Charlie Brooker's Antiviral Wipe.
