UK-based podcast production company Stakhanov has announced the signing of legendary presenter and award-winning comedian Clive Anderson, for the launch of its newest podcast series ‘My Seven Wonders with Clive Anderson’, co-produced with Alaska TV.
Joining the stable of industry-leading podcast creators Stakhanov (Football Ramble, JaackMaate’s Happy Hour, Abroad In Japan), Anderson, whose celebrated broadcasting career has seen him present C4’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and BBC Two’s Great Railway Journeys, will speak with a new guest each week in ‘My Seven Wonders’ to explore their personal seven wonders of the world.
In the ancient world, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Great Pyramid of Giza were listed, among others, as the greatest wonders the world had to offer. Yet, over the years and centuries since then, many newer, more modern wonders have come to light and inspired updated lists. Using this framework to get to know his guest better each week, Anderson asks the same big question… which seven wonders would make it onto your personal list?
Nothing is off limits, from culinary delights, to train journeys and world-famous performers, as Anderson allows his guests to take him on a journey through their lives, and the stories and events that have changed them forever, often with surprising results.
Stakhanov, in co-production with Alaska TV, has produced a series of ten 55-minute episodes, with the first episode launching on Wednesday 17th February, with Clive’s first guest Dara O Briain. During the opening episode, O Briain muses about his favourite sport, and the joys of photographing the night sky during lockdown, only to find that he’d accidentally recorded his neighbours singing Dancing Queen.
Other guests joining Anderson throughout the debut series include David Baddiel, Shappi Khorsandi, Griff Rhys Jones OBE, Ian Stone, Olivia Lee and Mary-Ann Ochota.
Clive Anderson said: “I have been toying with this format for some time, and so far My Seven Wonders has proved to be a joy to make. I am used to doing relatively short interviews on television and radio but this podcast allows me and my guest to have a longer, more relaxed conversation. Selecting seven wonders gives each guest a chance to reveal their interests and enthusiasms. Somewhat surprisingly so far no single wonder has yet been chosen by more than one guest. But every podcast has been informative and entertaining. A celebration of the wonders of the world, one guest at a time. Working with the brilliant production team at Stakhanov on this series has been a pleasure and I’m looking forward to making more episodes.”
Luke Moore, COO of Stakhanov said: “Everyone at Stakhanov is really excited to work with a legendary broadcaster like Clive, and his talents, alongside Stakhanov’s industry-leading production will make for a really successful show. We can’t wait for listeners to hear Clive’s first real foray into podcasting and are exceptionally proud of My Seven Wonders, a truly original angle on the interview podcast format.”
