News: Audible Launches International Women's Day Podcast

Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8th Audible Original is launching Women Unlocked, featuring some of the most hilarious and brightest female UK talent including Sara PascoeLondon Hughes and Sandi Toksvig.

The podcasts reunite famous, funny women for a remote catch-up, where they mull over the highs and lows of the past year. In Spring 2020, Locked Together was the ground-breaking first remotely-recorded comedy series to be released during lockdown. Coming out of lockdown in 2021, Audible follows up with an International Women’s Day special that showcases some of most talented and hilarious female comedic talent in the UK.

Women Unlocked brings some of our country's biggest female comedy stars together, as they invite you into their own homes for some uplifting chat, revealing the survival tips they’ve learnt over lockdown, and what they’re looking forward to in 2021. From their experience of lockdown as a female, to making it to the top as a woman in a man’s industry, these are warts-and-all chats, home recorded by the stars themselves. The episodes reflect on how they’ve used laughter and positivity to get through these extraordinary times and what they'd like to change about the world and the future for women.

Guests include:

  • Ep.1: Sandi Toksvig OBE (Bake Off, QI) and Sheila Hancock DBE (The Boy in the striped pyjamas, Sister Act) on busting 60s sexism and the perils of a long walk with a small bladder.

  • Ep.3: Shappi Khorsandi (Nina is Not OK) and Jen Brister (Lair, Popcorn) on the horrors of home schooling and the joys of piña coladas.
