Behind every great act there's a great warm-up act. Or something like that. So as a curtain-raiser to tomorrow night's Comic Relief fundraising Laughtacular join Rob Brydon as he trips the light fantastic among the funniest, sweetest and silliest musical sketches and performances from the Comic Relief store cupboard.
We haven't been given many hints about what to expect but there will probably be something from Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders and maybe a run-through of the classic Comic Relief singles.
Other highlights may well include Steve Coogan in the guise of continental crooner Tony Ferrino and Lenny Henry's self-styled love tortoise (sic) Theophilus P Wildebeeste.
Brydon, of course, has been partial to a singalong himself over the years – usually with Ruth Jones and Tom 'no relation' Jones – so the programme would not be complete without that.
The big Comic Relief night is on Friday night this year on BBC One from 7pm. It might be a slightly more intimate affair compared to past years because of you-know-what, but it's all for a good cause so please support it.
Comic Relief 2021 is set to be hosted by Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuinness and Sir Lenny Henry.
Highlights include new Vicar of Dibley, Jack Whitehall trying to make a Zoom meeting work and a special Staged sketch with Michael Sheen and David Tennant.
Look out for a mash-up of Normal People and Fleabag.
And don't miss Tim Vine's Joke In A Box – Tim Vine is on a mission: to reward the men and women of the UK’s military forces by spreading a smile! Concealed within a funfair-style fortune telling machine, Tim will be poised and ready to surprise the unsuspecting servicemen and women who’ve spent some of the last 12 months assisting frontline medical staff with Covid testing and vaccine deliveries.
