Having been postponed since March last year due to the pandemic, double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee for “Best Comedy Show” in 2017 and 2018, Ahir Shah is finally set to record his HBO Max stand-up comedy special Dots at the Vaudeville Theatre on Sunday 6th June. It will be captured over two performances at 5pm and 8.30pm. Tickets will go on general sale on Wednesday 28th April here.
Featuring Shah’s signature blend of philosophical inquiry, personal examination, and sweet gags, Dots is his critically acclaimed stand-up show about the necessity, utility, and absence of certainty. Topics include Mexico, culture, politics, cigarettes, depression, adulthood, funerals, religion, children, love, and dead German sociologists. It is considerably funnier than it sounds.
Ahir first performed Dots at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019, followed by a nationwide tour and finishing off with a sold out run at London’s Soho Theatre. It made best of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe lists including The Guardian, The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Scotsman. An internationally acclaimed comedian, Ahir has performed comedy across the world including tours of the UK and India and runs at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal.
On TV and radio, Ahir’s appearances have included Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), QI (BBC Two), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC Two), The Mash Report (BBC Two), Catastrophe (Channel 4/Amazon Prime), Hello, America! (Quibi), Guessable (Comedy Central), Stand Up Central with Rob Delaney (Comedy Central), The Big Asian Stand-Up (BBC Two) and The Now Show (BBC Radio Four), and written and starred in Ahir Shah’s Summer (Sky Arts) and Ahir Shah’s Life Lessons (BBC Three).
Editor's note - I did an interview with Ahir Shah to promote this show when it was scheduled to take place last March. The feature ran on March 16, 2020 and then we went into lockdown and the gig was postponed until now. Read the feature here.
