Brighton Comedy Garden To Go Ahead With Social Distancing

Next month’s comedy extravaganza  Brighton Comedy Garden on  Preston Park is all set to go ahead from 14-18th July despite last week’s announcement of continued restrictions.

The near sold-out series of open-air shows, featuring stand-up stars including SARA PASCOEDARA Ó BRIAINALAN DAVIESAISLING BEATOM ALLENNISH KUMARJOSH WIDDICOMBE and many more promises the same unbeatable entertainment just now in a socially-distanced setting.

The organisers were prepared for such a switch, with plans in place to adapt to any deviations in the Government’s Roadmap. They have no doubt that ticket holders are still in for an absolute treat having recently delivered their sister event Bristol Comedy Garden on The Downs in the same socially-distanced style.

“We’re making the necessary changes to the event to ensure that we bring our audiences the absolute best in stand up comedy in a safe and socially-distanced environment.” says Will Briggs, one half of the sibling team behind 57 Festivals, the London-based comedy producers known for their meticulously curated comedy shows set in boutique-festival style settings.

This summer’s event was already going to look a bit different from the inaugural Brighton event held back in July 2019. The shows, traditionally held in a Big Top tent, were set to take place on an outdoor stage with audiences in a seated open-air theatre. Now, with the continued restrictions, the event will be adapted in a few key ways.

The theatre-style seating will become socially-distanced seating plots, additional entry points will be in place, audiences will be asked to wear face coverings when moving around the event and follow the one-way systems and signposting and the bar and street-food traders will be replaced with a deliver-to-seat drink and snacks service.

“We were ready for this,” says co-producer Cass Randolph. “The last 18 months have taught us to be ready to adapt, and we’re incredibly grateful to be able to deliver our events in this ever-changing landscape. We can still bring these incredible comedians in front of our audiences who are ready, now more than ever, for some much-needed revelry.”

Tickets to this year’s event have sold at record speeds, evidently the desire for live entertainment is strong for the people of Brighton and beyond. So the good news is that a limited number of additional tickets have just been released across all shows, giving a chance for those who missed out on these stellar shows the first time round.
