Classic comedies have featured in a poll of the greatest television programmes of the 21st Century.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag – not a traditional sitcom but a programme with a comedy element – came in at number 4. The Office – BBC version – also featured in the overall top ten at number 9.
Succession, which has its darkly comic moments – came in at number 10. Animated comedy Bojack Horseman was number 11. Atlanta was number 14. 30 Rock was 17.
The Thick of It was number 20 and Curb Your Enthusiasm, which returns next week, was number 21.
460 different series were voted for by 206 TV experts – critics, journalists, academics and industry figures – who came from 43 countries.
Number one in the poll was The Wire. Number two was Mad Men.
