After six regional heats featuring 30 stand-up hopefuls the final of the BBC New Comedy Awards has taken place in Newcastle.

The final was compered by Guz Khan and the judges were Mawaan Rizwan, Sophie Duker and Lauren Pattison (pictured).

The six finalists were:

Lily Phillips

Celya AB

Liam Farrelly

Molly McGuinness

William Thompson

Anna Thomas

And the winner is...Welsh comedian Anna Thomas.

There was also a Digital Comedy Award – the winner was Holly Hall.

And  Bobby Duquenoy Taylor was named Young Comedian Of The Year.
