
South Africa’s award-winning Cape Town Funny Festival comes to London under the guise of the Cape Town Funny Festival in London for three nights only from the 23-25 October.
The project is now the country’s flagship comedy festival and includes South Africa’s biggest TV and theatre comics. Headlining the event will be TV star Marc Lottering. He will be supported by the cream of the South African crop, including the unforgettable Alan Committie. The leading, award-winning comic performer will be returning to Wimbledon following his star performance in Aladdin. Other comedians at the festival include Nik Rabinowitz, Carl Wastie, Siv Ngesi and Tumi Morake.
Marc Lottering has extensive experience in both television and theatre and is the host of the South African version of Strictly Come Dancing. Lottering has written no fewer than fifteen one-man hit shows for the stage. He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards along the way, and continues to play to packed houses all over South Africa.
Alan Committie is one of South Africa’s leading, award-winning comic performers. He is best known for starring and writing his stand up based solo shows. Alan has written numerous TV shows and served as creator and executive producer of the South African hit sitcom Those Who and as writer and star of Van der Walt’s Fault and Laugh Out Loud. Other acting credits include; the lead in Bedside Manners; Noises Off; Boeing, Boeing!; Funny Business and Perfect Wedding! Alan received rave critical reviews and a rapturous response from audiences for his role as Wishee Washee in the 2013 pantomime, Aladdin aat New Wimbledon Theatre.
Nik Rabinowitz has established himself as one of the country’s premier comics. International performances have included the UK, Holland, Australia, Canada, and the USA. He's been a guest on BBC2's Mock the Week, performed at the Royal Albert Hall and won the South African stand up of the year award in 2008. Carl Wastie is an established broadcaster on Good Hope FM in South Africa as well as a top comedian. Tumi Morake is the most recognizable female comic in South Africa. Her credits include supporting roles in the international award-winning films Jerusalema, Skin and Joburg. SIV NGESI is an award-winning actor and comedian and will have you laughing your socks off throughout the festival.
