The Jonathan Ross Show – Including Taskmaster Breakout Star Guz Khan

Jonathan Ross Show Guests This Week

This week on The Jonathan Ross Show, Jonathan is joined by Marvel stars Jeremy Renner and Hailie Steinfeld, Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, comedian and Taskmaster contestant Guz Khan, plus pop royalty Kylie Minogue and Jessie Ware, who will be chatting and performing in the studio.

Former schoolteacher Khan first broke through with his homemade YouTube video clips as the Birmingham character Mobeen, which was then picked up by the BBC and made into the hit TV series Man Like Mobeen.

Lately though Khan has been making a splash on C4 game show Taskmaster as one of the celebrity competitors alongside Victoria Coren Mitchell, Morgana Robinson, Desiree Burch and Alan Davies. His lateral thinking has enetertained viewers even if it does not win the show.

Khan is also a very good stand-up comedian so should be a great guest with plenty of tales to tell Jonathan Ross about his time as a teacher. Not surprisingly being able to deal with an unruly class of teenagers has stood him in good stead when it has come to dealing with a room of unruly stand-up comedy fans. Heckle Khan at your peril – you might end up in detention.

On appearing on Taskmaster Guz Khan said in an interview: "We’d already done stupid stuff, like walking backwards, and that kind of stuff vexes me out. I thought I was going to need medication afterwards, it was horrible. When you’re watching these tasks back, you sometimes think you might have done okay. You might even think you’ve won it. But every time you think you’ve won it, you haven’t."

Guz Khan has also been praised for the trousers he wears on the game show: "They’re very special trousers – South Asian or MC Hammer trousers. Big up MC Hammer – I heard he’s a minister now. A lot of people don’t give Hammer the credit that he deserves. I don’t know about the bravery it takes to come on television with them kind of trousers, but I wore mine with a South Asian flavour. And then, mate, just bang on a Nike top. Bit of streetwear, bit of MC Hammer/Lollywood, in Pakistan, and that’s the treat, mate."

The Jonathan Ross Show with Guz Khan, Saturday, November 13, 9.30pm, ITV1.
