Radio 4 Extra is making a three-hour documentary about the work of Chris Morris. The programme, entitled Raw Meat Radio, is due to be broadcast on November 29 at 7pm.
The project came about after the digital channel re-ran Morris’ influential radio show Blue Jam earlier this year. The producer is Morris superfan Sophie Black, who has been interviewing a number of people who have worked with the elusive auteur over the years.
Among those taking part are Lucian Randall, who wrote the Morris biography Disgusting Bliss, collaborator Paul Garner and former Managing Editor of GLR and Radio 1 Controller Matthew Bannister.
Armando Iannucci, who worked with Morris on Radio 4’s On The Hour and then on the TV version The Day Today will also contribute. The website Cookd and Bombd is helping out in the search for lost and forgotten Morris audio works, such as an appearance on Mary Anne Hobbs' Radio 1 show Breezeblock,
Update 9/10: Actually Mary Anne Hobbs is hosting the documentary. The producer said that despite speculation online Charlie Brooker has not been approached to present.
