John Bishop's Saturday night show is settling into a comfortable groove mixing topical comedy with lighthearted interviews with his guests.
A format like this usually works best when everyone can spark off everybody else and that ought to be the case tonight. One of the guests is Jason Manford, who is very much a contemporary of John Bishop from their early days on the north western comedy club circuit. They have both come a very long way from the Frog & Bucket to arena gigs. In fact earlier this evening Manford could be seen on BBC One hosting The National Lottery's Big Night of Musicals (it's at 7pm if you are reading this in time to tune in). Although as far as I know it's nice that they have stayed close to their roots and both still live in the north west - albeit in much bigger houses than the ones they grew up in.
The other guest tonight is Maya Jama who has a Somali and Swedish background and is Stormzy's ex-girlfriend. She is now a television regular hosting programmes and guesting on panel shows, though she was recently in the headlines simply because she had her hair cut into a new style and had called her fringe "Trisha". I can always tell when Jama is on TV because my Twitter and other social media feeds become overrun by men frothing at the mouth at how beautiful and sexy Maya Jama is. So brace yourself Twitter for another red hot meltdown between 9.30pm and 10.15pm tonight.
Or Twitter might go into a red hot meltdown afer something Bishop says in his topical opening monologue. Though he is going to have to go some way to beat his remark two weeks ago when he said: "Do us a favour Boris – stop lying to us and being a p***k.” Tune in and see for yourselves."
