In support of Neil Young's and Joni Mitchell's principled withdrawal from Spotify, the English comedian Stewart Lee ("the world's greatest living stand-up" - The Times) is taking his stand-up material off Spotify.
Lee, 53, says: "I am fully aware this will make no financial difference to Spotify whatsoever, but for too long internet platforms have been able to spread lies with impunity, free from the checks and balances that govern traditional publishers and broadcasters, and their efforts to correct this still do not go for enough. Perhaps artists big and small can band together to do something to change this where the money men won't."
Lee's material remains available as downloads and discs from Media Garage Productions (www.mediagarageproductions.com), he has seen Neil Young live six times, and his favourite Neil Young album is Ragged Glory.
Lee is currently on tour until July with his SNOWFLAKE TORNADO show.
Stewart Lee is currently touring SNOWFLAKE/TORNADO and will open a new show BASIC LEE this autumn. See www.stewartlee.co.uk
