West End Comedy Club Expands

West End Comedy Club Expands
London’s newest comedy club has announced they are doubling their number of shows - adding previews on a Monday as well as an early and late show on a Thursday from 24 March.

The West End Comedy Club has been running on a Tuesday and Wednesday night since August 2021. In that short time, they’ve already hosted the likes of Jen Brister, Hal Cruttenden, Dane Baptiste, Ria Lina, Sophie Duker,   Shazia Mirza and Simon Brodkin.

They added Monday shows for previews from 31 January which will run weekly through to summer. Bills include names such as Rosie Jones, Angela Barnes, Tom Ward and Seann Walsh. As well as fresher talent on the circuit including Ania Magliano, Finlay Christie (pictured), Lily Phillips and Tamsyn Kelly - to name a few.

Promoter Liam Pape comments, “With the cancellation of events like Vaults Festival where lots of acts had warm-ups and WIPs planned, we wanted to provide an alternate central London venue where comedians could prepare for Edinburgh or their own tours. We’ve had four Monday night show previews so far and they’ve had an extremely warm reception. Being a new club on the circuit, we’re delighted to be giving this talent a platform."

He adds: "Once preview season is over, we're looking forward to programming some exciting new show formats on a Monday night in the second half of the year.”

With the success of the club’s pro nights, they’re hoping to continue their growth with the addition of an early and late show every week beginning Thursday 24 March. Early show starts at 7pm, and late show 9:30pm. All shows currently take place upstairs at the Covent Garden Social Club - a member of the London Cocktail Club, which has been described to have ‘New York speakeasy’ vibes by comedians frequenting the joint.

Show Manager Matthew Currey says: “Over our short time, we’ve covered a lot of ground. Shows comprise of circuit veteran and up and upcoming talent so audiences have seen a little of everything over the past seven months. Comedians have also seen a bit of everything... as audiences I’ve seen have included an eclectic mix of Netflix producers, YouTube influences and even the occasional dominatrix! Interesting to see that we also seem to be a very popular location for second dates... to the thrill of our MCs!”

The West End Comedy Club runs Monday thru Thursday upstairs at the Covent Garden Social Club. Tickets cost £5-£15 and are available from https://westendcomedy.com
