Dave Chappelle is to host four new comedy specials for Netflix.
The streaming service has announced that Chappelle will executive produce and host Chappelle’s Home Team. Each show will feature a different veteran comic introduced by Chappelle.
The first act to be featured is Earthquake (real name Nathaniel Martin Stroman).Earthquake: Legendary will stream from February 28. Another special will feature Donnell Rawlings. The performers in the final two shows have not been announced.
Chappelle said: “I’ve been doing this a long time and comedians like Quake and Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career. Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue. I am proud to be a part of this moment.”
The comic's Netflix special last year, The Closer, prompted accusations of transphobia following his material in the show of the transgender movement and there were calls for The Closer to be removed from the streaming service.
Chappelle is also one of the stars playing the Netflix Is A Joke Festival later this year. Buy tickets at www.NetflixIsAJokeFest.com.
