
Engimatic magician and comedian The Amazing Johnathan has died. He was 63.
John Edward Szeles had been the subject of a documentary which explored his strange life (pictured) and fondness for gross out trickery such as sucking on his own eyeball dangling from its socket, cutting his wrists or inserting a knife through his tongue. No for nothing was he known as the 'Freddy Krueger of comedy'
In the UK Johnathan first found fame after appearing on late night television in the late 1980s where his mix of cmedy and magic helped him to build up a cult following.
More recently he had an extended run in Vegas.
Reports say he had had heart issues for a number of years. He had talked about only having a year to live back in 2014 but later continued to perform.
His wife Anastasia Synn had tweeted: "I'm losing my beautiful, brilliant husband. My beep beeps. He's not responsive & our home hospice nurses say he's at his end stage. He's medicated, not in pain & calm and snuggled every minute with me at home. Destroyed. I love u forever @theamazingj. I know that everyone does."
Performer Penny Wiggins broke he news on Facebook: "Hello everyone .. a very very sad day ..
