Second Radio Series For Jamie MacDonald

Second Radio Series For Jamie MacDonald

Andrew Roach Talent are delighted to announce that comedian Jamie MacDonald has been commissioned to write a second series of his hit show Life on the Blink for Radio 4.

In his typically forthright and honest style Jamie will continue to talk about his experience of losing his sight and the ways in which it has impacted on his life and the lives of those around him. His comedic take on being blind offers an inspiring perspective on life and the things that many of us take for granted. The second series will also be recorded in front of a live audience.

Jamie’s attitude towards his disability might have improved – but his eyesight certainly hasn’t!

Jamie MacDonald says: "Phew! The second series being commissioned means the first one couldn't have been a fluke!"

The first series was a great success when it transmitted in Radio 4’s 11.00pm slot during May 2021. It will once again be produced by Julia Sutherland for Dabster Productions whose Radio 4 credits include Rosie Jones - Box Ticker, Suggs Love Letters To London, Fred At The Stand and Terry Alderton’s Whole Half Hour.

“Jamie is one of the most consistently funny comedians we work with - a great writer, a natural performer - and just extremely fun to be around! Making the first series with him was an absolute pleasure. We can’t wait to get cracking with the second series, which already promises to be more packed with hilarious lines and unique observations than the last!," says Julia Sutherland, producer, Dabster Productions

Jamie MacDonald is a Scottish comedian, writer and voiceover artist. In 2017 Jamie was named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist as well as reaching the semi-final of the BBC New Comedy Award. His credits include Blind Ambition (BBC 2), The Now Show, The Museum of Curiosity, Rosie Jones: Box Ticker, and Fred At The Stand (all Radio 4), and Breaking The News, The Comedy Underground, Raiders of the Lost Archive and Scot Squad (all BBC Scotland).

Jamie has performed six solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as performing at comedy clubs all around the UK including Glee, The Stand and The Comedy Store (Manchester). Jamie successfully toured Scotland with his show, Designated Driver, in 2019.

As well as Life On The Blink Jamie also appeared in the BBC Scotland sitcom, The Scotts, which has since been commissioned for a second series. He has also been invited to speak at the Oxford Student Union.

Jamie started to lose his sight in his early teens due to a progressive degenerative retinal disease. Despite this, Jamie studied Ancient History at St Andrews University and Law at Aberdeen before working as a corporate banker in London.
