Social Media Responds To John Bishop In Doctor Who

There was a mixed response to Liverpool comedian John Bishop's appearance in the Easter Sunday edition of Doctor Who, Legend of the Sea Devils. This is the final adventure of the thirteenth doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker.

Adam Sellers was not a fan on Twitter: "BBC have pretty much ruined #DoctorWho haven’t they. Awful. Made worse having that clown John Bishop in it."

But Rhyssuxx tweeted: "John bishop is perfect in this show also. Love him #doctorwho"

Whereas Howard Batey was more interested in continuity issues: "John Bishop's hair has mysteriously grown and shrunk again throughout this episode #DoctorWho #DrWho #SeaDevils"

And Dean Rowlinson was clearly a fan: "Gotta love how John Bishop isn’t even acting in #doctorwho. He’s just being John Bishop. #LegendOfTheSeaDevils"

Anthony Shannon also gave Bishop – and the whole programme – the thumbs up: "The terrific @bbcdoctorwho is thrilling Sci-Fi at it's very best, with the wildly talented Jodie Whittaker as the latest iconic Time Lord. The charming Mandip Gill & @JohnBishop100 are The Dr's companions. Highly imaginative storytelling that just sucks you right in... #DoctorWho"

And he won over Sarah Kutschera despite initial misgivings: " was worried I wasn't going to like Dan, as I'm not a huge fan of John Bishop. But I actually hope he stays on. He's funny. #DoctorWho"

Honor Heward agreed: " do genuinely feel like john bishop is making up these lines but i’m not complaining he’s hilarious"

Dance Matters disagreed: "I like John Bishop but he's a shocking actor. Dear lordy this episode is a stinker...#DoctorWho"

Paul Newman, not the Hollywood star, offered some ideas for replacements: "The BBC's ideas for Dr Who's next assistant once John Bishop gets bored of doing it...Ralph Little, Ardal O'Hanlan, Jason Manford, Lee Mack, Jimmy Corkhill bloke, Stan Boardman, Shaun Ryder, Bez, Gazza, Jean Boht, Claire Sweeney, Lenny Henry, Ross Kemp, etc"

Others joked about him playing a 42-year-old as he is really a lot older and others suggested that in his pirate gear he would me a good member of Adam and the Ants.
