The longlist for this year's David Nobbs Memorial Trust New Comedy Writing Competition has been revealed. Each script submitted was read and scored twice. The judges are Lucy Lumsden, owner of Yellow Door Productions and formerly head of comedy commissioning at both Sky and the BBC, Welsh actor, comedian and author Katy Wix (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats) and actor, writer and producer Barunka O'Shaughnessy (The Mighty Boosh).
The competition offers a cash prize of £1000 and a runner up prize of £250 for up-and-coming comedy writers in order to help them to ‘buy time’ for writing. The winner will also get a valuable one-to-one consultation with an established comedy producer or commissioner from the Trust board.
