Comedians. Wrestlers. Blood. The Wrestling is back, and this time it’s in aid of Comic Relief. The biggest show in the history of Edinburgh – now in the biggest room at the Assembly Hall.
For one night only cheer, boo, hiss and holler as some of the Fringe’s greatest comedians face off against some of the world’s fiercest pro-wrestlers. Yes, it is as bonkers as it sounds. With epic battles between good and evil, explosive pyrotechnics, and people you’ve seen on panel shows hurtling through the air, this raucous and delightfully violent smash-hit - emphasis on ‘smash’ - is a spectacle unlike any other. Get ready.
The all-star line-up is yet to be revealed, but past spandex-swathed guests have included Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Sara Pascoe, Katherine Ryan, Nish Kumar, Aisling Bea, Joel Dommett, Ardal O’Hanlon, Nick Helm, Tim Vine, Tom Parry, Lou Sanders, Mike Wozniak, Mark Watson, Stuart Goldsmith, Patrick Monahan, Milton Jones, Bridget Christie, Colin Hoult, Natasia Demetriou, Ellie White and many, many others.
The Wrestling is the invention of mad geniuses Max Olesker and Ivan Gonzalez, a.k.a. Max & Ivan, Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominated double-act and creators and stars of ITV2’s wrestling comedy Deep Heat. The Wrestling launched itself onto the Fringe in 2011, where it became an instant sensation and won the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Panel Prize. The one-night mega-show has since become a festival phenomenon; in 2014 it played at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and it returned to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013, 2015 and 2017 to sell-out crowds, ravenous fanfare, and critical acclaim. 2022’s show will be the triumphant, post-lockdown return of a Fringe institution, bigger and bolder than before!
