Comedian Bec Hill was crowned the winner of the nation’s favourite toilet joke today on World Toilet Day. Beating off stiff competition from rival comics including - Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Arthur Smith, Helen Lederer, Paul Foot, John Cooper-Clarke and Alex Horne – Bec Hill was awarded the coveted prize of the golden loo seat.
The winning toilet joke is:
“For Christmas last year I got given Sudoku toilet paper. It’s useless.
You can only fill it in with number ones and number twos.”
The national competition saw the public vote for their favourite toilet jokes online. With a fluctuating leader board, 15 comedians battled it out to be crowned the ultimate wee one-liner. Comedian Matt Forde came a close second, with the ‘bard of Salford’ John Cooper Clarke a respectable third.
World Toilet Day: It’s No Joke! has taken off across the country – with a comedy festival held in former public toilets across London, people hosting their own pop-up comedy nights and comedian Gary Delaney’s dedicating his World Toilet Day gig to WaterAid. It even went international with WaterAid Uganda organising an #ItsNoJoke comedy night, broadcast on national television.
