TV Review: Am I Being Unreasonable, Episode 2, BBC One

Some people have been devouring the entire boxed set of this new Daisy May Cooper series since the first episode went out, but I enjoyed the first episode last week so much I want to make it last as long as possible so while it's all on iPlayer I'm watching an instalment a week.

Part two isn't quite the stylistic hotch-potch of part one and if you've seen the trailer in which scene-stealing Ollie (Lenny Rush) avoids talking to his gran on his birthday by crumpling some wrapping paper to make the phone line sound bad you've seen the funniest bit. Someone should call the police, Lenny Rush steals every scene he is in and as it's his birthday in this part he's in it quite a lot.

And let's be honest, it takes someone special to pull the focus away from Daisy May Cooper as Nic. In this episode we find out more background about her ill-fated illicit relationship. How it started, who knows about it. It's one of those tangled webs where everyone involved knows everyone and there is innocent video footage that now takes on a darker shade. Nic's lover's widow knows about the affair and is a close family friend making things a real strain when she is around.

As for Nic's new best friend Jen (Selin Hizli), there is clearly more to her than meets the eye – why is she behaving shiftily in Nic's house when Nic is not around? Meanwhile Nic is off picking up her cat from the vet, played by Jessie Cave (pictured with Nic).

This is an episode that offers a few answers thanks mainly to an extended flashback, and provides a lot more intrigue. You definitely get the sense that, like the economy, things are very much going to get worse before they get better. If they get better at all.
