Comedian Rob Beckett, 23-time medal winning diver and national treasure Tom Daley, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, BAFTA award-winning actress, and star of hotly anticipated horror film Barbarian, Georgina Campbell and comedian Judi Love are on the sofa this week. Plus multi-platinum selling singer Dermot Kennedy will be performing in the studio. Golden Globe-winning star of Girls Lena Dunham was supposed to appear but Ross said she was unwell and would hopefully appear later in the series.
Londoner Beckett certainly has plenty to talk about. He is currently still touring the UK with his show Wallop before heading off to Australia and New Zealand for shows there. And then in 2023 he has arena dates with Josh Widdicombe when they will be doing the live version of their podcast Parenting Hell. They started off in lockdown and it became such a chart-topping hit it has continued ever since, interviewing celebrities about how they bring up children, getting advice and hearing about the way people are coping, or not coping with kids.
Beckett, of course, speaks from experience. He has two young children of his own plus a wife and dog back in south London where he grew up and still lives. Beckett recently found himself as an 'accidental activist' when he was in a taxi heading to do the voiceover for Celebs Go Dating and got out and walked because of the traffic and found himself at the head of a Just Stop Oil protest in his crocs. He also famously got drunk after an England Euros victory and will no doubt be looking forward to the World Cup in Qatar.
Beckett is clearly one of the go-to comedians when new TV formats are being devised. He is also the host of various game shows including the new primetime show Unbreakable which puts couples through unlikely tasks and challenges to see if their relationship is strong enough to survive the stresses and strains.
Candid writer/performer/actor Lena Dunham made her breakthrough with the groundbreaking New York comedy Girls, which was kind of like a cooler anti-Sex and the City. Dunham lived in Wales for a while when she was making an HBO show.
