
Perhaps unsurprisingly Twitter and social media has had a field day after the new broke today that Matt Hancock had been stung by a scorpion.
Reports say medics dealt with the incident and Hancock has not had to leave the camp, yelping after the sting and comparing it to a bee sting.
Comedy writer David Quantick was quick to quip: "I'll be outside my house tonight, clapping the scorpion."
Amanda, aka @pandamoanimum tweeted: "Matt Hancock was rushed to see medics after being bitten by a venomous scorpion. I really never thought I’d feel sorry for Matt Hancock. I was right. #ImACeleb"
@mrdavidwheatley btweeted: "Fair play. This is the best thing scorpions have done since Wind of Change."
Numerous people put a twist on the old gag about the pepetrator being being victim. The Mirror's Kevin Maguire tweeted: "Matt Hancock stung by a scorpion. No update on the health of the arachnid."
Comedian Bennett Arron echoed the gag: "Matt Hancock has been stung by a scorpion. “It was horrific! I now have poison running through me!” said the scorpion.
TV critic Toby Earle added: "good luck to the scorpion that stung Matt Hancock releasing a tell-all book in time for Christmas"
