Veteran chat show host Jonathan Ross has had some pretty big guests on his current series. This week's line-up is a bit of a mixed bag. There's British singer-songwriter Craig David, award-winning comedian Katherine Ryan, star of Full Metal Jacket and ‘Papa’ from Stranger Things Matthew Modine, Dancing on Ice judge and former Strictly professional dancer Oti Mabuse, plus the chart-topping Wet Leg will be performing in the studio. Oh, and more comedy from Mancunian rising star Josh Jones, who picked up an Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nomination this year for his debit show Waste of Space.
Comedian Katherine Ryan is always good value on chat shows. She has recently given an extended interview to Louis Theroux for his one-on-one BBC series and it is due to be broadcast on Tuesday, November 22 on BBC Two at 9pm. Ryan is currently pregnant with her third child, having reunited with her childhood sweetheart Bobby. Ryan was recently in the news showing off her early Christmas decorations, complete with polar bear on the door. In the new year she can be seen in a new Sky series, Romantic Getaway with Romesh Ranganathan, about a couple who steal to fund their IVF treatment.
Ryan announced her real-life pregnancy on her podcast: "I'm pregnant, I've been pregnant for a while and here's how I did that. I got pregnant while breastfeeding the first time I tried and to be honest with you I don't think it's going to work because I'm 39 - I would have been 38 when I got pregnant. And I thought, "We've got to get the kids out of the way''. You never know how long you're gonna have and I love my kids. I just thought, ''well let's go for it".'
She told Ross: "'For my son Fred who's 17 months now, we booked in at this fancy London hospital where Princess Diana had her babies, where Kate Middleton had her babies, where Meghan Markle could have had her babies but she didn't…We were only at the hospital 9 minutes. So I might as well have it at home."
Craig David is also good fun on these shows and a good sport. Film buff Ross will probably want to talk to Matthew Modine about what it was like to work with Stanley Kubrick on Full Metal Jacket, which was partly filmed in east London, but he will also be chatting to him about appearing in Stranger Things in his white suit and also playing Atticus Finch in the West End production of to Kill A Mockingbird.
