Record Breaking Radio Sitcom The Shuttleworths to Air Special Episodes in December

Graham Fellows’ creation The Shuttleworths, starring Sheffield based Singer-Songwriter John Shuttleworth is about to extend his record of having the longest-running sitcom on radio made exclusively by the same creator. Two Shuttleworth specials are airing on Radio 4, at 11pm on the 1st December, and 11pm on the 8th December.

Earlier this year John told the British Comedy Guide ‘I'm very proud to be approaching my 30th year of broadcasting on the snooty channel. I didn't realise I'd been recording the goings on of the Shuttleworth family for so long, but it does explain why my bottle of tapehead cleaner is getting low!’ Fellows has made every episode of the show entirely in his own studio, creating the dialogue through improvisation, and voicing all the characters himself.

Alongside his sitcom, Graham Fellows has just released his most personal film yet Father Earth, following on from followed up his two previous indie features, It’s Nice Up North and Southern SoftiesFather Earth is the touchingly quirky true story of one man’s efforts to save his world, whilst attempting to save the planet. It also explores his relationship between Shuttleworth and his creator. Brian Logan of The Guardian who described it as ‘charming’ and ‘compelling’, wrote that the film explored ‘Fellows’ effort to assert himself, to be worth something other than his Shuttleworth success’. It is touring till 15th December alongside Q&As with Fellows and will be available as a digital download from 1st December.
