Jonathan Ross Show Guests This Week – Stormzy, David Walliams

Jonathan Ross Show Guests This Week

Jonathan is joined by one of the biggest acts in the country right now, Stormzy, who will be chatting and performing in the studio, Golden Globe-winning Hollywood star of the hotly anticipated new Knives Out movie Kate Hudson, bestselling children's author and BGT judge David Walliams, plus influential and pioneering British singer songwriter Joan Armatrading.

Update: David Walliams is no longer in the line-up according to social media but comedian Roisin Conaty of C4 sitcom Game Face is on the show.

That's interesting to see that David Walliams is appearing on the show. I wonder if the booking was made before the recent controversy about private remarks Walliams is alleged to have made while recording Britain's Got Talent that were never intended for broadcast. Walliams has not said much publicly about the incident except to issue an apology:  “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

A spokesperson for Thames said that even though the production company regarded Walliams’ comments as private, his language was “inappropriate” and he had been reminded of the show’s “expectations as to future professional conduct”.

Walliams’ comments were the only instances of derogatory remarks about contestants in leaked transcripts from three episodes that were seen by the Guardian. There is no suggestion that Simon Cowell or any other judge made offensive remarks about contestants.

So will his appearance with Jonathan Ross gloss over the incident, which rather goes against his image as a best-selling children's author, or will it be a chance for Walliams to apologise further? Could this be the Frost/Nixon of showbiz interviews? I guess we will have to watch to find out. Unless, of course, stories appear in the papers when the show is recorded.
