Comedian Nick Helm has confirmed that the second series of his sitcom Uncle will start on BBC3 next February and his own variety show Heavy Entertainment will start in March. He has tweeted the following: “For those interested... It looks like UNCLE 2 will be due in February closely followed by Heavy Entertainment in March.
Uncle stars Helm as layabout Andy who takes his nephew Errol (Elliot Speller-Gillott) under his wing and finds himself, much to his surprise, being the one that grows up. The series which went out on BBC3 earlier this year is written by Oliver Refson and co-stars Daisy Haggard as Andy’s sister/Errol’s mum. Con O’Neill and Brett Goldstein are also in the regular cast.
Heavy Entertainment started out as a one-off Comedy Feed pilot and its variety style is closer in spirit to Helms’s stand-up persona, mixing jokes, songs and a lot of shouting at the audience. Helm has also just started a run at the Soho Theatre. Tickets here.
