The Jonathan Ross Show returns after its winter break with more celebrity chat and laughs. The guests on the first show will be star of the Ant-Man films, The Hobbit trilogy and iconic TV series Lost, Evangeline Lilly, irrepressible former EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, high-octane comedian Maisie Adam, The White Lotus and Flowers star Will Sharpe, supermodel and new Glow Up host Leomie Anderson, and the multi Brit award-winning band The 1975, who will be performing in the studio.
After the oddly pitched satire-meets-showbiz of John Bishop's Saturday night talk show we are on firmer ground here with old hand Ross chatting away merrily to his guests and not doing anything or saying anything too controversial.
And Ross has quite an interesting line-up for his first show. I don't know how he landed Will Sharpe but it feels like a bit of a scoop as i don't think I've ever seen Sharpe on a chat show before. He will be known to most viewers for playing sexy six-pack sporting computer geek Ethan in the second series of the White Lotus. Viewers who have only seen him in that may be surprised that he has an English accent in real life. Originally the actor Evan Peters was reportedly set to play the role of Ethan.
The White Lotus seemed to be a bit of a curveball for Sharpe's career. He had previously garnered great reviews for his weirdly funny Channel 4 TV series Flowers. He also directed The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain which starred Benedict Cumberbatch. He has also appeared in W1A, Sherlock and, erm, Casualty.
Also appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show is Maisie Adam, who I've been a fan of ever since I first saw her win the So You Think You're Funny? competition for newcomers at the Edinburgh Fringe. Back then she had a normal haircut. Adam has become a TV regular since then on shows such as Live at the Apollo and Mock The Week. She can currently be seen in Dave's The World's Most Dangerous Roads driving up and down sand dunes in Morrocco with Suzi Ruffell. Adam only told Ruffell at the last minute that she had only just passed her driving test...
