Good batch of guests for Jonathan Ross this week. Comedians James Acaster and Tom Davis, Prue Leith and Maya Jama. Pop star Niall Horan, who is best known for his work with One Direction, will be singing in the studio and also chatting to Jonathan.
James Acaster is a quirky comic and on a good night is great value on chat shows. He made a splash on The Last Leg's New Year's special a few years back when he said "go fuck yourself" to Lorraine Kelly after she uttered the immortal words 'Piers Morgan'. These days Acaster is best known as co-host of the Dave show Hypothetical with Josh Widdicombe and also his podcast Off Menu with Ed Gamble. He said a few years ago that he was quitting stand-up but has been gigging recently, firstly with a show in which he encouraged hecklers and more recently in the guise of spoof detective Pat Springleaf who is hopefully going to be the star of a new audio sitcom.
Acaster is also due to appear in Celebrity Hunted with Ed Gamble and appears in the new video from music collective Temps. Music fan Acaster put together the Temps project during lockdown. He produced their debut album and also drew the album artwork. ‘PARTY GATOR PURGATORY’ is released on May 19 via Bella Union.
Tom Davis is best known as the star of Murder In Successville and King Gary but this year he is heading out on his first major stand up tour, entitled Underdog. Davis talked to BTJ about the upcoming tour in an exclusive interview. He said: "I've always thought of myself as an underdog. Though not necessarily in a negative way. I think that's what has made me. The bulk of my humour comes from constantly feeling like someone who's had a little bit of a kicking. I remember being eight or nine and pulled up by a teacher with another kid and her saying 'who do you think is gonna get further in life?'" Read the full interview and check out his tour dates here.
