Red Nose Day 2023 Passes £35.3million Raised

Money raised so far for Red Nose Day 2023 is £35,310,407.

The amount has risen by more than £3million since the Red Nose Day night of entertainment drew to a close on Friday 17 March, which saw £31,952,141 announced at the end of the BBC One show. The final total won’t be known for some time as money is still coming in and a fantastic prize draw to win an iconic 2009 Jaguar X-Type Estate previously owned and driven by HM Queen Elizabeth II, is still up for grabs.

The money raised will help people experiencing homelessness, mental health problems and food poverty, as well as people facing a devastating hunger crisis across East Africa, and those affected by the heart-breaking earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. This incredible generosity will support countless lives when it’s never felt more needed.

Samir Patel, CEO, Comic Relief said: “We are feeling completely overwhelmed by the enormous generosity and kindness shown by the public and our partners this Red Nose Day. To have raised such a significant sum during the cost-of-living crisis, is just extraordinary and we are blown away by how much the amount has risen since Red Nose Day last Friday. People often dig the deepest during times of crisis and this has certainly been shown this Red Nose Day.

“Thank you to everyone who bought a Red Nose or t-shirt, dressed up, baked a cake, took on a challenge or watched the TV show and donated this year. Your extraordinary efforts will help to change so many lives.

“We’re excited about what we can do with this incredible pot of money and how many people in need of support we can reach. In the past two years alone, through our funding we have helped to support 2.7m people across the UK and around the world. Many charities are struggling to stay afloat, and more people than ever need support, so one of our main priorities now is making grants and getting this money to where it’s needed most.”

Friday night’s star-studded Red Nose Day night of TV was broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Salford and presented by AJ Odudu, David Tennant, Joel Dommett, Paddy McGuinness, and Zoe Ball. Throughout the evening, viewers were treated to an evening of entertainment jam packed with hilarious comedy sketches, live music, extraordinary prizes and moving films showing the life-changing power of donations.

The Red Nose Day night of TV is now available on BBC iPlayer.
