Taskmaster star Jenny Eclair was due to appear on this week's sunday Brunch but she has come down with Covid. There is still a Taskmaster presence on the show though with Ivo Graham joining Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer in the studio. Also on the show are League of Gentlemen writer Jeremy Dyson (the one who doesn't appear in the show), Andy Nyman (who has worked a lot with Derren Brown in the past), singer Ellie Goulding and James Golding.
Graham is one of the top stand-up comics around and is finally getting a few more breaks. The old Etonian comedian picked up an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination for Best show in 2019 but then the pandemic happened and things wera a bit more quiet. Graham is unashamedly posh, has a winning way with a joke and is a great compere and excellent at crowdwork.
He is now getting to show off his smarts on Taskmaster alongside Frankie Boyle (Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, BBC Two), award-winning comedian Jenny Eclair (Older and Wider), actor and writer Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts, BBC One) and award-winning Canadian comedian, actor, writer and producer Mae Martin (Feel Good, Netflix).
the whole series has already been filmed and he recently said of the experience: "It was so fun. So fun. You can quote me on that: “So fun”. I surprised a couple of people when I said I’d enjoyed the day you’re talking about, because the evidence seemed to suggest I hadn’t. I did find a lot of the tasks, and my failure to adapt to them, very stressful. I returned home every day, delighted with how fun and creative it had all been, and how I’d been taken care of, but with a lot of micro regrets about things I knew I could have done better."
Sunday Brunch, Sunday, April 9, 9.30am, Channel 4.
