A Crowdfunding campaign has been organised to raise funds to set up a trust fund for the two young children of Gareth Richards. The 41-year-old comedian died on Good Friday after being involved in a car crash on the M25.
The fund was set up by his management Mirth Control. The aim was to raise £500, but at the time of writing the fund had already exceeded its target and raised £1837 (update - this story was published yesterday, the figure has gone up to over £13000).
The Crowdfunder page says of Richards: "He was so loved by so many people and will be greatly missed but we know he is now at peace. He loved the boys so much and was very proud of them. He did the best bedtime stories and loved flying kites with them. Thank you all for your support and kindness. Mirth Control will announce a fundraising event in due course."
It is still possible to donate here.
Moving tributes have continued to come in for the much-loved comedian. Frank Skinner was tearful when he spoke about Richards on his Absolute Radio show that Richards used to appear on. A compilation has been released of Richards' best bits on the show. You can listen here.
