Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize Winners To Give Money To Working Class Acts

Best in Class have announced plans to give away their Edinburgh Comedy Award prize.

Having won the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize last year, Best in Class plans to redistribute the entire £5000 award to working class acts.

Best in Class founder, Sian Davies said “Paying that money forward is exactly what we should be doing. We don’t exist to make a profit, our purpose is to support working class acts to access the Fringe. We do that by working as a collective and sharing our profits.”

The £5000 award translates as direct support for ten performers. The hope is that additional donors come forward and the bursary can be extended to support even more acts.

Best in Class was created in 2018 to provide a platform for working class comedians to perform at the Fringe without financial risk. Alumni include Jordan Gray, Jamie Hutchinson, Lindsey Santoro, Tom Mayhew and Anna Thomas.
