The David Nobbs Memorial Trust has announced actor, comedian, and writer Sanjeev Kohli as the third judge for shortlisted entries to the Trust’s sixth New Comedy Writing competition.
The annual competition offers cash prizes to up-and-coming comedy writers, helping them ‘buy time’ for writing as well as valuable one-on-one time with a top comedy producer or commissioner. The winner will receive a cash prize of £1000 and one on one time with industry professionals.
Kohli says: “I used to write new comedy. Told a joke in the playground and got annihilated for it. Now it’s MY time to judge. I promise to be more even-handed than my judges though, and I certainly won’t be putting any dog’s doings into the hoods of any parkas. Not even metaphorical ones”
Kohli joins fellow judges Chris Addison and Lucy Lumsden who will choose this year’s winner and runners up in July.
