Jack Whitehall is to become a father.

The comedian announced the news on Instagram, posting a picture of himself and his girlfriend Roxy Horner holding a scan and saying: "And I thought I wasn’t getting enough attention when the dog arrived…".

Whitehall is the latest comedian to announce imminent parenthood. Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper are also expecting a baby and Sara Pascoe and Steen Raskopoulos are expecting their second child this year.

Whitehall has been talking in interviews recently about how at 34 it is about time he grew up and started acting like an adult.

His new arena tour, starting next month, is called Settle Down. He said of the tour, “this is my most personal show yet, with plenty of material about the big changes that have happened in my life. It’s about my struggle to settle down gracefully. I’ve got a long-term partner, a ridiculous dog and am now hurtling towards middle aged without a clue. It’s about a foppish man-child’s cack handed attempt at adulting!”

He appears with his father Michael Whitehall on the Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show on BBC One this Friday, May 19.
