The Classical Comedy Club is back and bigger than ever with five top class comedians joining Scala Radio for a very special series.
Across June, Gyles Brandreth, Josie Long, Suzi Ruffell and Nina Wadia (final comedian TBC) will each be hosting a show on Sunday evenings celebrating the lighter side of classical music.
Following the success of series one, which was broadcast in 2022, each episode of the new series will offer our comedians a chance to play classical compositions from their favourite artists, unforgettable concerts, and stand-out musical memories.
Aiming to put a smile on the faces of their listeners, Gyles, Josie, Suzi and Nina will share their earliest memories of classical music, the people they associate with it and the emotions the pieces evoke. During their two hour-long shows, they will explore the tracks that have inspired their comedy sets, been the background to childhood memories or simply pieces which were composed to make people laugh.
The series begins with comedian, writer and actress Suzi Ruffell who said, “It was great to spend some time at Scala Radio sharing my favourite classical pieces, film scores and a fair few numbers from my favourite genre: musical theatre. I hope the listeners enjoy my choices and listening to why these pieces mean so much to me.”
The Classical Comedy Club launches on the 28th May for five weeks from 6pm.
Listen to Scala Radio on Digital Radio across the UK, on Smart Speaker, App and at Scalaradio.co.uk.
