Amused Moose Comedy has announced the seven nominated Fringe comedy shows in the Amused Moose Comedy Awards 2023.

Amused Moose Comedy Awards is the only awards on the Edinburgh Fringe which focuses on discovering comedy performers resident in UK/RoI, who do not yet have comedy agents and whose shows have not won any major comedy awards nor performed at comedy's "stepping stone" Soho Theatre. Amused Moose Comedy Awards is the ‘senior strand’ of the Amused Moose comedy competitions.

The Amused Moose Comedy Award 2023's 'super seven' nominees are:     

• DAVE BIBBY: BABY DINOSAUR (PBH Free Fringe, @ Banshee Labyrinth)
• JOSH BAULF: BULLDOG (Underbelly, Cowgate)
• LOUISE ATKINSON: MATES (Gilded Balloon, Teviot)
• PHILIPP KOSTELECKY: DADDY'S HOME (Stand 2)
• SAMANTHA DAY: THE BOOBY TRAP (Laughing House @ City Cafe)
• SIMON DAVID: DEAD DAD SHOW (Underbelly, Bristo Sq)
• WILL HALL: MILD PERIL (Just The Tonic, Mash House)

Three winners among the nominees will be presented with an Amused Moose trophy this week and Amused Moose Comedy is hopeful that the tradition continues of some of the nominated shows being invited to perform at Soho Theatre in the Autumn.

Amused Moose Comedy Awards 2023 wish to also commend the quality of the shortlisted shows, which are:

• Alexander Bennett: I Can't Stand The Man, Myself (Gilded Balloon Patterhouse)
• Amy Webber: No Previous Experience (Just The Tonic, Mash House)
• Dan Jones: This Seems Ambitious (Pleasance Courtyard)
• David McIver: Small Boy Trapped in a Wellness Retreat (PBH FreeFringe @ Banshee Labyrinth)
• Eleanor Conway: Talk Dirty To Me (Laughing Horse@Three Sisters)
• Lara A King: Midlife at the Oasis (Stand 4)
• Richard Stott: Dear Lord ... What a Sad Little Life (Laughing Horse @ Cabaret Voltaire)

Entries were submitted by the performers to Amused Moose Comedy in July and early August, including a film of a public performance of their show as a preview or at the Fringe. Then comedy industry cognescenti around the globe viewed all films online to select those who would go onto a Longlist. 

The 'super seven' nominees and shortlisted shows were selected by a panel of comedy industry folk including critics, promoters and producers, who have been seeing shows at the Edinburgh Fringe which entered Amused Moose Comedy Awards 2023.
